About Cignpost Treatment Module
Treatment cover includes specialist consultations, hospital treatment, scans, surgical procedures, physiotherapy, outpatient care, and approved day-case procedures for eligible acute conditions. Please check your Treatment Bolt-on policy wording for details.
Yes. Treatment which is intended to shrink a cancer, stabilize it or slow down the spread of the disease is included. However, ongoing cancer treatment and chronic oncology care may be excluded unless specifically stated within the policy terms. Please check your Treatment Bolt-on policy wording for details.
Cover is for the cost of outpatient mental health treatment following a referral from your registered medical practitioner in general practice or your Cignpost digital GP where medically appropriate. If your referral is to a psychological therapist, we will arrange a telephone-based clinical assessment with a senior therapist from our mental health network provider who will help organise the most effective treatment for you. This could include face to face therapy, guided self-management or specialist referral. Where treatment with a psychological therapist occurs outside our network provider, it must be delivered under the direct supervision of a consultant psychiatrist.
Cover is also for the costs of medically necessary day case or inpatient mental health treatment in an NHS or private mental health unit. All treatment must be under the direct control and supervision of a consultant psychiatrist and must be authorised by us in advance and in writing.
Please note that mental health conditions are often long term in nature and may be classed as chronic conditions. If, after a full review of all the medical information available, the condition is considered to be chronic, we will not pay benefits for continuing or recurrent treatment of that condition. Neurodiversity, conditions related to, and assessment and treatment of, are not covered.
Some policies may include an excess option, meaning policy holders contribute a fixed amount towards eligible claims before cover applies. Excess only applies once per policy year across CignpostMe and the Treatment Bolt-on (if selected). Check your Policy Wording for more details.
You should contact the Cignpost claims team 02086084285 before arranging treatment to confirm eligibility, obtain pre-authorisation, and receive guidance on approved providers.
